This course covers the principles and methodologies of power system planning, with emphasis on the optimal expansion of generation, transmission, and distribution systems to meet future electricity demand. Students learn to apply techno-economic analysis, reliability evaluation, and optimization techniques to planning problems under practical constraints. The course includes distribution system planning, long-term load forecasting,
generation expansion planning, transmission and substation expansion, and reactive power planning. Upon completion, students will be able to analyze alternative planning scenarios, assess system reliability using standard indices, and support decision-making based on economic and technical criteria.
